The NSS Unit of St Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur celebrated International Women’s day on 8^th March, 2021 by organizing a mask and Food packet distribution event.

The event began with a congratulatory note, by Dr. Fr. Paul Chandankunnel to the cleaning staff of the college for the services rendered by them. This was followed by an inspiring speech in Marathi by Principal Dr. Surendra Gole. Fr. Siju Jose expressed his gratitude towards the good work done by women cleaning staff for keeping college premises clean and tidy. The first Food ration kit was distributed by the Pallottine Rector Fr. Antony. Food packets, each containing pulses and edibles and reusable mask were distributed amongst the Women cleaning staff.

The event was conducted under the leadership of Director of college Dr. Fr. Paul Chandrankunnel and Principal Dr. Surendra Gole. Fr. Siju Jose representing college management executed the distribution program with the support of SVPCET NSS Unit Program officer, Dr. Ashlesha Nagpure, Faculty Co-ordinator Mr. Anthony Augustine, and NSS Faculty Dr. Hema Kale, Mrs. Neha Nagdeve and Mr. Yogesh Lanjewar. The distribution project implemented by SVPCET NSS Unit, was funded and supported by “Pallotti Bread”, Nagpur, and an initiative of The Nagpur Pallottine society which supports BPL and marginalized families without ration card living on pavements and slums in and around the Nagpur City.

The event culminated with a group photo of all the women present. The masks distributed to the Teaching and Non- teaching staff (Women) were sourced locally from women entrepreneurs of villages adopted by the college under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, promoting the Make in India initiative.
