Celebrating Science Day

The Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities celebrated National Science Day along with the Semester 1 students on 2nd March, 2021. National Science Day is observed every year to mark the novel discovery of Raman Effect by the great Indian physicist Dr. C.V Raman.

On this occasion a webinar was conducted on ‘Semiconductors in Everyday Life’. Dr. Ashutosh Mahajan, Associate Professor at Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, was invited as guest speaker.

Mr. Mahajan made students aware about the importance of simple pn junction diodes.

He also explained applications of diode, transistor in electronic gadgets and devices in day to day life, about storage and memory devices and their working.

A question answer session was conducted at the end of the seminar, giving students an opportunity to interact with the speaker and get their queries answered. The webinar was concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Namrata Gore, First Year Incharge. The session was coordinated by Physics Faculty, Prof. Sayali Kanhav and Co & Extra-curricular Incharge, Dr. Ashish Bodhaye.
