Report on AICTE sponsored One Week STTP
One week short term training program(STTP) on the topic “ Renewable Energy Sources”, sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was conducted during 18th to 23rd November, 2019 at the Electrical Engineering Department of St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur.
The course was inaugurated on 18th November, 2019 with gracious presence of Chief Guest Dr. Mrs. Sadhana Rayalu, Chief Scientist, EMD Division, NEERI Nagpur.
During her inaugural speech Dr. Rayalu discussed about the solar energy potential in India and how we can enhance it, to meet our energy demands.
First session was conducted on “Assessment of various sustainable energy sources of India” by Guest of Honour, Dr Abhijeet Digelwar, Associate Professor Mechanical Department, BITS, Pilani. Thereafter participants went for the field visit to NEERI, Nagpur. Dr. (Mrs). Sadhana Rayalu, Senior Principal Scientist, Environmental Materials Division talked about several innovative technologies proposed for enhancing the efficiency of solar panels.
Day 2 sessions were on “Heat and Electricity from Biomass Combustion” by Dr. Milind Kshirsagar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SVPCET Nagpur
followed by “Wind Power Generation” by Dr. Sachin Jain, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering NIT Raipur and “Wind Source Estimation & Reliability” by Dr. R. M. Moharir, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, YCCE, Nagpur.
Day 3 sessions were on “Development of Solar Power”, by Mr Narendra Ahir, Dy. General Manager (Solar), Maha Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, Nagpur followed by, “Renewable Energy Sources – Future” by Dr. N. V Deshpande, Ex Director, NIT Silchar, Assam and Ex Professor and Head (Mechanical), VNIT, Nagpur and “ Fuel Cell” by Dr. R. P. Ugwekar, Associate Professor ,Chemical Engineering , LIT, Nagpur.
Day 4 sessions were on, “Different aspects of wind generator “by Dr. Harshit Dalvi, Asso. Prof. & Head, Bajaj Institute of Technology, Wardha followed by “Integrated operations in renewable energy sources” by Dr. Mohan Khedkar Prof. Electrical Department VNIT Nagpur & Ex Vice-Chancellor Amaravati University and last session was on “Aspects of Solar Rooftop Solar Design & Installation” by Mr. K. P. Dhawad Sr. Consultant, solar solutions, Nagpur.
Day 5 sessions were on “Electric Vehicles” by Mr. Vipin Khade, Sr. Analyst, PMANIFOLD, Nagpur followed by Dr. Manoj Neergat, Professor IIT Bombay on scenario of solar PV potential in India and last Session was a field visit to Nagpur Metro, permission for which was given by Mr. Anil Kokate, Executive Director (Admin) Maha Metro and coordinated by Mr. Vikash Kumar, Manager (MEP) and Mr. Mohanraj, Senior Section Engineer at Nagpur Metro.
23rd November, 2019, Day 6 sessions were on PV thermal system by Dr. Nitin Gulhane, VJTI, Mumbai followed by Dr. P. S. Kulkarni, Associate Professor, EED, VNIT Nagpur who gave insight in to the topic of Renewable Energy Sources. Dr. P. S. Kulkarni was also chief guest for STTP valedictory function. A test was conducted on the topics covered during STTP after the last day session. All participants successfully cleared the test and STTP completion certificates were distributed to them in valedictory function.
Total 40 participants participated in the program from different cities in Maharashtra and other states i.e. from Goa, Gujarat and Chattisgarh. All 40 participants had fruitful interaction with the speakers and the program will definitely contribute in enhancing their ability as researcher and as faculty members.
STTP was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Nitin Dhote, HOD Electrical Engineering Deptt. and Convener Dr. (Mrs.) J. P. Rothe, Professor Electrical Engg. Deptt. The STTP coordinators were Dr. Kushal Kanhav and Mr. Nilesh Mendhe.
