Celebrating National Science Day

National Science Day is celebrated each year to highlight the importance of science used in daily life of the common man.

It is celebrated in India on 28th February each year to mark discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on this same day in 1928. For this discovery, Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.

Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities celebrated this day in advance on 14th & 15th Feb, 2020. A competition on Innovative Ideas in Science & Society (through PPT /Verbal/ Group or Mono act presentation / Working Model) was organized for students of First Year, where 15 groups competed against each other. The objective behind this initiative is to motivate, enthuse and inculcate innovative skills.

Shining out as winners were-

1st Prize : Ayushi Mankar & group (Sec C) on Social Media Impact on Society.

2nd Prize : Vrushali Moon (Sec C) on Science & Technology.

3rd Prize : Raj Aryan Singh (Sec F) on Biogenetic Memory.

Prof. Atish Gour (Science Club Coordinator), Prof. Namrata Gore (Co/Extra Curricular Coordinator) and a bunch of enthusiastic student volunteers worked towards making this event a fruitful one for students.
