Covid -19 Relief Project by St. Vincent Pallotti College

St Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur undertook a Covid Relief Project in the villages of Dhuti (Dongargaon) and Rui adopted by the college under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. India.  The project is implemented by SVPCET NSS Unit in collaboration with “Pallotti Bread”, a social initiative of The Nagpur Pallottine society, for duration of three months.

In this Relief Project, the BPL families without ration card were identified. These families were then contacted and provided with Food Ration packets comprising food grains, pulses and spices and cooking oil. The Gram Panchayats acted as centers for distribution of Ration as per social distancing norms.

The first Food Ration packet distribution event was conducted on 19th June, 2020 in the presence of Director of college Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel and Principal Dr. SurendraGole. SVPCET NSS Unit volunteers along with faculty and Fr. Siju Jose representing college management, distributed food ration packets to support 150 families. The activity was coordinated by the Gram Panchayats of the respective villages. The project was funded and supported by “Pallotti Bread”, Nagpur, and an initiative which supports BPL and marginalized families without ration card living on pavements and slums in and around the Nagpur City.

SVPCET NSS Unit Program officer, Dr. AshleshaNagpure, Faculty Co-coordinator Mr. Anthony Augustine, NSS student & staff volunteers actively participated for implementation of project.
