Covid -19 Relief Project by St. Vincent Pallotti College

St Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur undertook the second phase of its three month duration Covid-19 Relief Project on 28th July,2020.This phase covered the localities of Dhutiand Hanuman Nagar in Dongargaon Gram Panchayat, adopted by the college under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. India. 

Under this Project, the BPL families without ration card were identified and provided with Food Ration packets comprising food grains, pulses, salt, and spices and cooking oil. The Dongargaon Gram Panchayat officials under the guidance of its Sarpanch Mr. Devendra Singh Goureffectively organized the distribution of Ration as per social distancing norms.

The distribution event was conducted under the leadership of Director of college Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel and Principal Dr. SurendraGole. Mr. Sarin Durge, PoliceInspector, HingnaPolice,inaugurated the distribution program and gave an awareness session on staying safe and healthy by following the norms to prevent the spread of corona virus. Fr. Siju Jose, representing college management and Mr.Rajesh Pandedistributed food ration packets to support 100 families. The project is being implemented by SVPCET NSS Unit, funded and supported by “Pallotti Bread”, Nagpur, an initiative of The Nagpur Pallottine society,which supports BPL and marginalized families without ration card living on pavements and slums in and around the Nagpur City.SVPCET NSS Unit Program officer, Dr. AshleshaNagpure ,Faculty Co-ordinator Mr. Anthony Augustine, and staff volunteers actively participated for implementation of project.
